Choosing Between EBook Readers

Electronic books or ebooks for short have become more and more popular due to the introduction of ebook readers such as Amazon's Kindle or Barnes and Noble's nook.

Many people are comparing the two and that's understandable and even with the release of Apple's iPad, you've still have people lining up to buy them. And among the ebook readers, they are the top contenders. But to get down to business, which is better?

The Kindle has gone through a few generations and with each new model has become smaller, thinner and lighter. Also, the writing is darker and the screen light so it makes it easier to read on it, and now the Kindle can hold up to 3500 books.

Now both the nook and Kindle is very affordable and both have more than one version, that is, each has a Wi-Fi only option or having both Wi-Fi and 3G.

Now, the difference between these two ebook readers...

Immediately, the Kindle is notably smaller and lighter but in terms of features the nook is better because it allows sharing between friends that also have a nook. So for example, if you have a book on your nook, you can share the books you have with your friends.

In terms of the user interface, the nook has a 1 inch touch screen portion that can navigate through book titles and also doubles as keyboard whereas the Kindle only has push buttons only.

To compare their battery life, Kindle can last 30 days with wireless off and the nook is about 10 days or so. You look at it that way talk to decide which ebook reader is right for you. Some may choose the Kindle for its thin design that's also light weight and some may look for the nook for its sharing capabilities.

So which one is better? It is a bit difficult to decide and I may be a bit biased because I personally have a Kindle and I prefer it due to the fact that it focuses primarily on just reading books. The nook on the other hand has additional features but a frustrating interface that makes of use of a mix of touch screen and keypad pressing. But ultimately, it is up to you to decide which of the ebook readers is best for you.
